At Lanex, we make an effort to keep customers informed about our services.
As a result, we have posted our policies for your convenience. Please review
periodically as policies are subject to change.
Lanex reserves the right to not serve any customer depending on content policies
and serving capacities. Lanex does not host any pornography, multi level
marketing, get-rich-quick schemes or any other content that we feel will
adversely affect Lanex, our upstream providers, or our other customers '
reputations.
Unless otherwise noted no contracts are required. Sites and services will be
discontinued if payment is not received when due. A contract may be required if
your sites or services will require a significant investment in capacity to
meet your needs, or if you have negotiated a longer-term contract in exchange
for a discount.
Lanex is not liable for any damages due to the failure of its servers, network,
or internet connection beyond a credit for that month's service or $1000.00
whichever is less. Lanex is not liable for loss of profit, or other incidental
or consequential damages due to the lack of availability of your access or
services provided by Lanex.
Email accounts may mail up to 3000 messages per month (or an average of 100 per
day) unless other arrangement are made in advance. A $1.00 charge per
additional message charge will be added to your account if you do not abide by
this rule. There are no charges for incoming email messages. Users sending more
than this amount of messages MUST use a mailing list. Contact Lanex for
assistance and pricing for mail list services.
Lanex scans email for viruses and to identify SPAM. These services are provided
for your benefit, but no warranty is made as to the effectiveness of the
program. The identification of viruses and SPAM are by nature reactive, so it
is up to the customer to be prudent in the opening of email messages.
Lanex does not maintain backups of email messages on its
network or servers. Email backups are the responsibility
of customers.
Your access to the NOC is by appointment only and you must be accompanied by a
Lanex staff member.
Access to your server's data or your data on our web or database servers is
restricted. Requests to grant access to the server or data must be made by
email and be sent from an authorized person. This is done to protect your data
and code, and to provide documentation as to who has access to what.
Lanex will keep all its servers up-to-date with service packs and hot fixes in a
timely manner. We also offer this service to co-located hosts if desired.
Co-located servers may also be located behind a Netscreen firewall with port
restrictions as specified by the customer if desired.
Lanex will strive to maintain its
servers, and monitor their activity in a professional manner,
but is not liable for data loss due to the activities of hackers or crackers. We always suggest
that customers regularly create off site backups of their code and data. Lanex does
not maintain backups of email messages on its network or servers. Email
backups are the responsibility of customers.
There may be restrictions related to server extensions, ActiveX controls, PERL
scripts, and applications that are used on Lanex's web servers. If you are
planning to use this type of resources please contact Lanex to make sure that
they will not affect the stability or availability of the server for you or
others hosting sites on that server.
Lanex expects its customers to abide by the rules and guidelines listed at
http://mail-abuse.org/rbl/manage.html
Lanex provides the tools you will need on its list server to manage your lists
and subscribers appropriately. Lanex has and will continue to enforce these
list server policies. Those found to have abused the policies will have their
list terminated immediately.
You will be provided with telephone and pager numbers that can be accessed 24
hours a day, 7 days a week. There are always at least 2 staff members on call.
Lanex may use its judgment as to what constitutes an emergency. For instance,
adding or checking the availability of an email box may not be an emergency.
Please use common sense when contacting us for off-hours service.
Lanex reserves the right to modify these Policies from time-to-time without
notice.
These Policies will be construed, governed by, and enforced in accordance with
the State of Wisconsin.
Last Policy revision: February 29, 2008.
Lanex recommends that customers periodically visit their site and test their
e-mail operation, shopping carts, and linking.
Lanex, LLC does not allow it's customers or others to send bulk e-mail using
our normal mail servers with standard access accounts. Standard access accounts
are allowed to send up to 1000 e-mail messages per month at no additional
charge. Unless other arrangements are made, messages beyond the 1000 per month
are billed at $1.00 each. There is no charge for incoming messages. Users that
are not compliant with the e-mail usage policy will have their account
terminated immediately.
Lanex guarantees 99% uptime for the month, or the month's hosting charges are
free. This is the limitation of Lanex's liability. Lanex is not responsible for
upstream service outages or Acts of God.
We take e-commerce seriously, as do our customers. To that
end we have made the necessary investments in skills,
servers, network equipment, backup and uninterruptible power and spare parts. While
we cannot guarantee that upstream providers and their networks and equipment will always
be available, we can let you know that service outages from all causes was less
than 4 hours during the last year. We will maintain our facility
(Our servers, network equipment (hubs, routers, switches), and support equipment) in
an operational state more than 99.9% of the time during each month or your months
hosting is free! This does not cover a "Crashed" web site due to programming
or database error, etc, but does assure that our servers will be running. If you
ever note a problem please notify us any time, any day at our contact numbers.
Lanex recommends the use of passwords of at least 6 characters for all of its
customers.
The standard prices for hosting are as follows. If you have a special situation,
are a reseller, or need a service or volume that you do not see below, please
feel free to contact Herb or Matt at (262) 789-0966

Bandwidth Example:
Bandwidth Pricing Example:
Suppose you have a very busy site that consumes 100 Gig of traffic during the
course of a month (note, this would be a site with about 20,000 visitors a day,
a very busy site). Your bandwidth would be charged as follows.
100 Gig of traffic - 5 gig allotment in basic package pricing = 95 GB over
allotment Your price is determined by your volume range, in this case you fall
into the 50 or more GB range. Your additional charge would be 95 X $3.00 =
$285.00 for the month.
To put this in perspective, you would have reached about 30 days x 20,000
visitors per day = 600,000 visitors for a cost of $325.00 ($40.00 basic site +
$285.00 bandwidth) or $0.00054 each (19.5 visitors per penny).
Note, the vast majority of the sites that we host do not exceed 5 GB of traffic
per month, but rest assured, if you really do invent a better mouse trap, we
will be able to serve you and your customers!

Space Example:
Disk Space Pricing Example:
Web sites that have audio or video files, or advanced flash or other content
may require additional server disk storage. The Advanced Site package includes
1 GB of disk space, let's suppose your site has 4.5 gigabytes of storage at the
end of the month.
Your disk space cost is calculated as follows. Your total disk space used is
4.5 gig, subtract the 1 gig allowance, you will be charged for 3.5 gigs of
additional storage. Your additional charge for storage would be 3.5 gig x $5.00
per gig = $17.50.
Note, all server content other than log files is backed up to tape on work
days. This service is included in your hosting package at no additional cost.
Lanex rotates 3 weeks of backup tapes, so files are available for up to 3 weeks
if you do not notice that an item is missing for a bit. There may be a charge
for restoring missing files based on the labor that is required on our part. We
suggest that web site administrators also back up content remotely on a
periodic basis as well for additional content security.
Windows Media Server: Windows Media service is used
to stream basic audio or video content. There are many reasons to stream media
rather than have links on your web pages that just download a media file. Using
the Windows Media server does not allow us to reserve you a certain number of
connections or bandwidth like a Flash Media server, but because of the speed of
the Lanex Internet connection you will have good success up to 20-50
connections for audio and 10 - 20 connections with video, and up to 2 to 5 meg
of bandwidth.
Streamed media can be encoded at multiple bit rates to deliver the best
experience for each users Internet connection. It will support a greater number
of users at the same time and will save you bandwidth.
The cost of using the media server is $30.00 per month and includes 5 gigabytes
of traffic. Additional traffic is priced per the "Monthly Bandwidth Pricing"
table above.
Email Service: Dedicated virtual email server, your
domain and managed by you. Lanex email servers may be used to scan your
incoming mail for spam and viruses and forward your messages to your existing
server, or you may use one of our servers to host your messages. Our email
servers support imap, pop3, smtp, and web mail.

Additional message storage capacity costs $5/mo per gigabyte. There are no limits as to the number of incoming
messages per day. Each mail user may send up to 1000 messages a day. Lanex does not maintain backups of email messages on its
network or servers. Email backups are the responsibility
of customers.

Lanex uses several anti-spam filters on all incoming mail. All mail received is
checked for unwanted marketing "junk mail" content, and will be checked against
known spam servers on the internet. Each piece of junk mail will be rated with
"junk points" that determine how probable the email in question is offensive or
unwanted. The subject field of all email deemed junk will be amended to say
"Probable Spam:" and then list the original subject. Most email clients
(Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Outlook Express, Etc.) have filters that allow
the user to flag and remove all mail with certain phrases or words in them, and
the "Spam:" amendment to the subject line of the email is specifically meant to
cater to these filters.
